Person-Centred Psychotherapy • East Dulwich, London
Compassionate, person-centred counselling in a warm and confidential setting — helping you find clarity, healing, and a way forward.
About Fiona
Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent twenty-five years working in advertising and strategic communications — first in London, then in the United States. That career gave me a deep understanding of the pressures we place on ourselves in the workplace, and the damaging thoughts and coping strategies that can follow.
Today, I offer an empathic and non-directive space where you can feel safe to explore and express even the most distressing thoughts and feelings. I believe the quality of the connection between therapist and client sits at the very heart of effective therapy, and I work to build that relationship from our very first meeting.
I continue to give back through pro-bono work with Caris Bereavement Services, supporting those experiencing loss and grief.
Therapeutic Approach
Person-centred therapy places you — your feelings, your experiences, your pace — at the centre of our work together. Rather than offering prescriptive advice, I provide a safe, confidential environment where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply and find your own path forward.
Feeling genuinely understood is transformative. I strive to see the world through your eyes, without judgement, creating a space where you can be completely yourself.
Whatever you bring to therapy, you will be met with warmth and acceptance. There is no need to perform, edit, or hold back — every part of your experience is welcome here.
I bring my authentic self to our work together. This genuineness fosters trust, allowing you to feel safe enough to explore even the most difficult feelings.
The counselling relationship sits at the heart of effective therapy — a safe and private space to talk in confidence, to be heard, and to begin to heal.Fiona Desai

Support through bereavement and all forms of living loss — the ending of relationships, the loss of youth, career changes, and other profound life transitions that reshape who we are.
Exploring shame-based thinking patterns that can hold us back, erode our confidence, and shape how we see ourselves and our place in the world.
A compassionate, non-judgemental space for those navigating substance abuse or recovery — understanding the deeper feelings and circumstances that drive these patterns.
Drawing on twenty-five years of corporate experience, I understand the immense pressures of professional life and the toll they can take on mental health and wellbeing.
